Breakaway Logistics 1. The $55 is just for the registration fee. You will need to charge your students for their lodging (see more about lodging under "hotel" below), transportation, and meals en route. Students should bring money for the Breakaway store and pizza night. 2. Meals included for the weekend: 3 meals Saturday and breakfast Sunday. 3. Many of the churches make t-shirts (hand-made w/ fabric markers or have them printed). One site to utilize is www.customink.com. Standard turn time is 14 days but you can do a rush order (10 days) but that adds 25% to your order.
Friday Night 1. Registration begins @ 6:30 at North High School. Address is 501 Holcomb Ave. Des Moines, IA 50313. Directions: Exit 2nd Ave off I-80/35; go south to Holcomb; turn right; school on right. 2. Check in at the breakaway registration table. 3. Have your students submit their fine arts exhibit, video (for video competition) and sign up for a time slot to perform their music/drama selection. Be sure this does not interfere with sports (basketball is Saturday morning, volleyball is Saturday afternoon). 4. Sign up for 3-pt and Dodgeball which starts at 7:00 in the gym. 5. Upon arriving at the school on Saturday a.m., check out 1 pager per church from the control table as soon as you arrive so you and your students can be located throughout the day.

Hotel - Embassy Suites 1. Room reservations need to be with a credit card made with the hotel by the stated deadline and you may be held responsible for any room cancellations. 2. This has to be a very firm number based on your breakout of girls and guys, including sponsors. Room assignments (names per room) can come later but need to be faxed to the hotel and to Tedand Jan at least a week prior. 3. The hotel rates quoted are per night - you are staying 2 nights. 4. King suites are approx. $96/night; double/double suites are $135/night (plus 12% hotel tax). 5. Putting 5 people (on the average) in a double/double or 3.5 people (on the average) in a king works out to be approximately $30/person/night--this is possible because each room also has a foldout couch in a separate room. 6. There are limited number of doubles on each floor so if you want to stay together as a group, reserve a mix of rooms (kings & doubles).
Banquet Traditionally, the banquet is a semi-formal occasion and most of the students and sponsors dress up. However, this is optional--jeans are perfectly acceptable. There are assigned tables (by church) at the banquet.
Competition Site Check back to this site for more details and information as the weekend approaches. Contact Ted Houser 515.321.5623 or Jan Houser 515.490.9678 for questions of further information.
